Mushroom cheese sandwich NUtreboot is ready with the weekend recipe 🎉. This is my most favourite sandwich recipe.
What do we need ? Multigrain bread, mushrooms, capsicum, onion, garlic, butter/ghee, sauce, cheese slices.
How do we make it ? Pretty easy process and will be relished by all ages. 1. Chop 1 onion, a box of mushrooms, 1 capsicum, and mince a few garlic pods. 2. In a pan, add butter/ghee/oil and saute the minced garlic and onion. 3. Add the chopped mushrooms and capsicum, stir fry on high flame for 30 seconds. (I always use an iron pan for cooking - it is a healthy metal for cooking and enhances the taste). 4. Remember not to add salt at this point. I always recommend not to add salt while cooking. 5. Close the lid and let the mixture cook for 10 mins. Now add little salt for seasoning. 6. I have used multigrain bread, you can spread your choice of sauce just to add to the flavour. Place the cheese slice on one slice of bread. 7. Stuff the mixture once it cools down. Brush the pan (I only use iron pans) with butter/ghee and let the sandwich sit on the pan till it gets a golden crust. Serve it and enjoy with a warm drink.
Nutritional inputs:
1.How do we make this healthier?
Use a multigrain bread instead of a regular sandwich bread 2. How healthy is the stuffing?
We have used mushrooms, capsicum, onion and garlic. Mushrooms are rich antioxidants, potassium, magnesium and other minerals. Capsicum is rich in Vit C and Vit A, garlic and onion are rich in sulphur. Garlic is rich in Selenium and antioxidants.
3. How many calories does this sandwich contain ?
Approximately 300 calories for one sandwich including the calories in the cheese.
4. How much fat did we use?
We used 1 tablespoon oil for cooking and 1/4 teaspoon butter/ghee for brushing the sandwich pan.
5. Is this healthy ?
It is healthier than a pizza/burger ! No transfats used. Made from fresh vegetables and not canned.
6. Does cheese make me fat ?
Cheese by itself doesn't make you fat. Cheese is good in calcium and Vit A. Excessive indulgence in anything is bad.
Tip: mushrooms are rich in sodium, hence add very little salt AFTER YOU FINISH COOKING
