Powdered lentils – (Podi)
This famous South Indian dish is a relish in most of the households. Is rich in nutrients, vitamins, minerals, protein, low carb and low fat.
Ingredients : Peanuts, masoor dal, roasted bengal gram, bengal gram, urad dal, coriander, tamarind, few cloves of garlic, red chillies, desiccated coconut (optional) and salt.
Method : 1. Roast all the lentils and peanuts and coriander seeds one by one and set them aside. (Low flame) 2. Roast the tamarind, garlic cloves and red chillies on low flame and set them aside. 3. Mix them in a blender, add some rock salt and make it into fine powder as shown in the pic. 4. You can also add little desiccated coconut while blending. 5. The podi is ready and this can be stored in an air tight jar. Has a long shelf life too . You can it with hot rice, idli and dosa. Make a great accompaniment for a diabetic diet too. Happy Cooking !
